A Human Resource Consultant and Professional Writer
Jaquina helps transform business cultures, thoughts, written content, and more!
If you’re looking for a seasoned Human Resources professional, with a fresh twist of relevant thought leadership, then you’ve found the right person.
With years of HR experience in various industries, I have been able to learn from CEOs, business moguls, and leaders across the nation. Having worked with small to large companies, I’ve had an opportunity to witness, first-hand, different circumstances, warranting top-notch case studies.
From individual employee relations issues to large corporate legal compliance mishaps, my HR career has allowed me to work with teams of strategic thinkers and dedicated business owners to ensure the continued success of not only the businesses but of the employees and their well-being.
I’ve found that working collaboratively to build more productive teams takes time. It often requires a transformation– not of the building or just the environment, but of the thoughts and culture.
That’s what I do! I help transform business cultures using my HR knowledge, years of experience, training and development skills, written content, such as policies and guides, and dedication to employee success. And of course– everyone knows that an employee’s success leads to the company’s success.
Writing
So why use this site to promote my professional HR career and my writing career? It’s simple! I want you to know just what you’re getting.
Writing has always been my passion. But, so has HR. I found myself deeply-invested in how employees are treated. When you think about it, before any of us were adults or became gainfully employed individuals, we were mere children who watched our parents go to work from one day to the next.
We knew they were doing what they needed to do to support the household, but we probably never quite grasped how important it all was until we had to go to work and take care of a family of our own.
‘The working individual’ became a fascination for me. I understood the connection between work and home, and even grew up hearing, “If you don’t work, you don’t eat.” — Imagine what goes through a kid’s mind when they hear that.
At a young age, I began journaling. I thought about work and life. And go figure! Now that I’m an adult, I found a career in Human Resources, but am still strongly tethered to the concept of Work-Life balance for adults.
My balance is writing. It’s soothing and creative. It allows me to express my own thoughts and to provoke thoughts in others. Over time, I found stimulation in what I saw, learned and experienced– both in my personal life and at work. Eventually, writing to make each of them better in some way, just became fun!
So when I purport to be a content writer, say that I am an expert at writing investigative reports for employee relations matters, or to say that I can create an effective Employee Handbook or policy, it’s all because I can.
And how do reports, memos, policies, and handbooks tie into HR and culture transformation — Well, it should be clear!
When businesses write down things concisely to share with their employees, stakeholders, legal teams, they become equipped to protect themselves better. Plus, employees have a greater understanding of expectations and clarity, while customers and clients gain transparency.
And my creative side– What about when I say that I can ghost-write a novel or even a textbook?
Think about it. Novels, articles, blogs, and other creative works are outlets for me. They allow me to share my knowledge, experience, and skills in a manner that I love. It’s not work that I dread. It’s a passion that I am eager to share with the world, therefore, making the quality of the work that much more effective.
My thought-leadership is a derivative of my creative expression. Thankfully, I’ve figured out how to let that creativity manifest in my HR life as well as my personal life.
